Fall Workshop 2019
The Fall Photography Workshop has been set for THIS SUNDAY, October 27. Come and join the fun-filled day of learning. This is a great opportunity to expand your photography skills. We will start out at the Iowa Arboretum and end up at my studio in Maxwell to review images. Ledges was the plan, but they have closed their restrooms for the season and they are holding an "archery deer hunt" at the moment. Instruction This workshop is a combination of field shooting, photo walk and classroom session. I will be engaging you in group and one on one tutorials and instruction in the field. My primary emphasis while in the field is to make sure that you are able to make awesome images. We will end the day back at my studio in Maxwell, where we will review images and emphasize the key learning points from the day.
The Iowa Arboretum, located on 160 acres in Boone County’s Des Moines River Valley showcases hundreds of species of trees, shrubs and flowering plants in a tranquil setting. Woodland and prairie trails provide wonderful outdoor walking opportunities. This location will accommodate a wide range of physical abilities. Most of the Iowa Arboretum is fairly level ground and does not require extensive physical exertion if not desired. There will be restrooms available at the Arboretum.
We will meet at the Iowa Arboretum at 8:00 am. Shoot until Noon. Break for lunch, which you will bring. Then meet up at my studio in Maxwell at 1:30 pm. It is about a 45 minute drive from the Arboretum to Maxwell. We will spend approximately 2.5 to 3 hours reviewing images. Expect to Learn I will aid you in mentally visualizing the scene, raise your awareness and spark your creativity. Topics of instruction in the field include: camera technique, proper metering for proper exposure, composition for impact, techniques to find the best subjects, and much more.

I have spent the past 8 years teaching photography (at Reiman Gardens) teaching hundreds of adult students to see and photograph their world. In May of this year, I stumbled upon an amazing opportunity to have my own home with a photography studio / classroom in the basement. It's a remodeled church. So, beginning in August of 2019, I will begin teaching classes from my new location in Maxwell, Iowa. It is an easy 25 minute drive SE of Reiman Gardens.
